Nokia has just announced that it will license its brand and intellectual property to a newly created company called HMD global, which will work to produce and sell a portfolio of Android smartphones and tablets. HMD global is based in Finland and will be led by Arto Nummela, a Nokia veteran who moved to Microsoft when the latter company took over the former's mobile business. The new company has agreed a conditional deal with Microsoft to acquire the rights to use the Nokia name on featurephones along with some related design rights. Nummela will be installed as CEO once that transaction is completed, which is expected to happen by the end of June.

 Foxconn's participation in this is also interesting. Its subsidiary FIH Mobile is the company that today picked up the remnants of Nokia's former feature phone business from Microsoft for $350 million. HMD global and FIH already have a collaborative agreement in place "to support the building of a global business for Nokia-branded mobile phones and tablets." The Nokia N1 tablet was built by Foxconn in partnership with Nokia and the new HMD venture, while claiming independence, appears to be a formalization of that budding relationship. A NEW ANDROID HARDWARE MAKER WITH AN OLD FAMILIAR NAME Nokia will have a seat on the board of directors at HMD global and it will furthermore "set mandatory brand requirements and performance related provisions." The ideal outcome from today's business machinations will be a new hardware company that has all the design expertise of Nokia and all the manufacturing acumen of Foxconn, via its FIH Mobile subsidiary. And this will all have to be integrated with Nokia's own push into wearable devices in the wake of its acquisition of Within's.  It seems the feature can be enabled or disabled on WhatsApp's servers, so the company can trial with groups of testers. Why Is Etisalat Doing This?

Etisalat has been one of the best networks when it comes to good and fast Internet network for browsing. The network is loved by many because of their wide coverage in so many locations across the country.  When Etisalat launched the socialme, smartpak, chatpak packages that allows subscribers to enjoy unlimited access to all chatting and social media platforms, it was welcomed by people especially those that chats a lot.  But at a time, it stopped working on some apps like facebook (only working with Facebook messenger) so in the process of finding a way to make it work again on all the social media apps, we discovered it can be used to power all apps and browsers on our phones with the help of VPN apps like Psiphon and Simple Server (which is now Netloop)  Since then, so many gurus and geeks has been flexing it even with the speed throttling issues. The plan is actually perfect if your intention to use it is for browsing, watching youtube and chatting but its not okay for downloading.  However, just recently Etisalat started discriminating by allowing this package to work on some selected Etisalat SIM and refuse to work on some. Why should it be like that? Etisalat placed a data cap on so many SIM that are subscribed to this plan without providing a way to check the data balance. It seems Etisalat doesn't want to slack back in there Data plans, as MTN and Airtel are out there giving us cheap data plan day by day. Etisalat revisited their data plans and made some little changes, like you can now get 1.5GB for N1000 also you can get 3.5GB for just N2000. This seems okay by me shaa.
